Marshall man missing after his car goes into a ditch

Police are searching for Brandon Swanson, age 19 of Marshall.  Swanson's car was found

abandoned in a ditch Northwest of Taunton.  Swanson's Chevrolet Lumina was found shortly

after noon Wednesday at the Lyon-Lincoln County line in Southwestern Minnesota.  Swanson's

parents had called the sheriff about 6:30 AM Wednesday to say they had gotten a cell phone

call from Brandon, who said he had gone into a ditch.  He told them he went off the road between

Marshall and Lynd, but his car wasn't there.  The cell call was traced to a tower near Minneota,

and the car was found soon after.  Officers, a police dog and a State Patrol airplane searched the

area and found nothing.
